Does your windage knob clear the receiver on the right side?
I've picked up a 70D, for my Browning 1895, and it looks like the windage knob will hit the receiver before it runs out of adjustment. Is this they way it's supposed to be, or do I maybe have a frankensight?
Thanks.

Re: Question for Winchester 1895 owners with Redfield sights
I had the same problem with my Miroku '95 carbine.
I think that I wound up using a sight for an '86 or a '71.

It shouldn't hit on any sight made for the 1886.
Re: Question for Winchester 1895 owners with Redfield sights
I have a Miroku made 1895 Winchester SRC. I chose the Williams receiver peep sight. The carbine's receiver is pre-drilled for it. Very solid. Lots of clearance and room for windage adjustment. Very nice sighting system.
Re: Question for Winchester 1895 owners with Redfield sights
The Redfield 70 "D" is the correct sight for the '95 Winchester. My 1924 original has one, but it is the earlier 102 "D".

Re: Question for Winchester 1895 owners with Redfield sights
Thanks Mike. It's good to hear from someone with an original.
On mine, with the elevation wound all the way down, the base of the windage adjuster hits the receiver just to the right of the bolt. This leaves approximately "1/8 between the top of the bolt and the bottom off the sight arm. Is this the case with yours?

Re: Question for Winchester 1895 owners with Redfield sights
Affirmative. I believe that they all contact the right side when down to "0". I have a couple of Lyman 56s for the '95, but since the old Redfield came with the little .30-06 it will remain in place. This is exactly where the sight stays while hunting, so there is no issue with shooting whatsoever. This carbine has taken a number of deer over the years and goes on every trip.
