.375 win brass?
Hopefully someone can help me with this one. I have a .375 win that I've never had the chance to fire and a bunch of 30-30 brass. The case measurements lead me to believe that I could just neck the cases up to make .375 brass but I'm not sure if it would end up being a true .375 case or if it would be more like a short, thin walled, 38-55 case. I've read that the .375 case is thicker than the 38-55 but I've never heard which case the 30-30 is closer to. Any ideas?

Re: .375 win brass?
You can make brass that will work in the 375 out of 30-30 brass. The 375s, Marlin and Winchester, are really chambered for the 38-55 length brass, the short kind.
Re: .375 win brass?
If the brass has been used before I'd suggest annealing first (you tend to split necks otherwise). Factory 375 brass is a little heavier in the web area but 30/30 brass is still quite strong and holds a little more powder. Once formed the cases will be about 1mm shorter than 375 brass but still quite useable. Buy yourself a Lee FCD and you can crimp cases without problems.

For mine I anneal the neck AND shoulder, prime and charge with a small amount of Unique. Fill case with Cream of Wheat, plug with wax an fire in my .375. Perfect .375 brass, and cheap too.
Re: .375 win brass?
I'm going to try that this weekend!! have a truckload of 30-30 brass from my gun clubs public sight in day....I'm going to try cast boolits too for use in my Marlin M-375...not to get off the topic but should I order then in .377 , 378 or 379dia???..have never slugged the barrel but have heard they run 375 on the button

30-30 brass is all I have ever used in my 375 or 38-55 or 32-40 or 32 Spl or 219 Zipper or....
I do not anneal anything. I run the 30-30 case through a 35 Whelan sloped expander--the kind you use when expanding 30-06 to 35 Whelan. It gently opens it up. After that I run it through a 378 Wetherby expander, then a 38-55 FLS, fire form and thats it. I use the 378 because that expander is also gently sloped but if you take your time, a 38-55 will work. Seat the bullets out to meet the rifling without going over MOAL and your good to go.-----------------------Sixgun
