I believe that this is the device responsible for the term "blowing smoke up your *ss". Yes it really was a medical treatment at one time, although I forget why.

Wow, this didn't last too long... 
400short is "technically correct" (we won't ask you how you knew...) that it used to be an old Tobacco Enema, the warm smoke supposing to have various medical benefits.
Nowadays though, it's a favorite tool of the current Administration in DC!!! It will be part of the new health care program.

And, when I was a student, we had an old doctor in the hospital who swore by the warm milk and molasses enemas for those constipated by use of narcotic pain relievers. While this demonstrates that technology exists to do this the 'right' way, I think that there was a group arrested at an OWS camp who were discovered in a tent doing 'shotguns'...
