The after hunting season ORDEAL ; Is almost finished !

Post by 6pt-sika »

Yeah deer season's been finished here for almost a week now . And I've gotten started cleaning all those that had been sight checked and left with a fouled barrel . But in the process I decided to redo the interior of the medium safe I use for my lever guns so it'll hold more !
When I got it my friend had it set up to be like an "easy out safe" and I'm more inclined to have them all like what some folks call "collector interiors" because I can get more in it !
The interior it will have when I'm done should double the capcity , giving me enough room for all my lever actions and half a dozen others as well as a nice shelf for pistols etc !

Lets see also just finished transferring all the ammo I had for the 30 plus rifles back into the loading room !
Got all my hunting clothes in the laundry room so they can be clean when and if I go to Arkansas at the end of the month .

Still have about 6 lever actions , 8 or 9 Ruger #1's and a couple other rifles to clean .
The Ruger's can go back in the small safe as I have them all relegated in there and as soon as the interior of the medium safe is finished tommorrow all the Marlin's can go back in there except for the couple I may take to Arkansas .

And if I get all this done tommorrow that leaves the weekend to "restructure" my loading room AGAIN ! Always at the end of hunting season it looks as if a bomb went off in there

Perhaps next week I can even do some load work on the Ruger #1B 7mm REM MAG with the Nosler 175 grain Partition that I friend so graciousely gave me a couple hundred of !

I could sorta be called a three gun hunter as I use three basic rifles and many copies of each one

6pt,

I know what you are talking about. My collection of fine firearms requires more time to maintain each year than I can allocate. I think my growing areas of other interests confounds my available time. Not to mention getting sidetracked on must do homeowner projects that keep the Homestead safe and sound.

So much to do and so little time....

Go the medium safe finished interior wise and then I wiped all the already cleaned 444's and returned them to that safe as well as cleaned all but my Retro 444P and 336-44 . And put them in the safe !
Since changing the interior it holds 34 without cheating !
At the moment I have all of my Marlin;s accept the two mentioned as well as my two Savage bolt action shotguns , my grandfathers Ruger 44R carbine , the Browning B-78 25-06 , a Mannlicher Schoenauer 308 , my grandfathers old circa 1958 Remington 722 222 and a circa 1964 Remington 700BDL 06 .

Here's a picture of the small safe thats supposed to be for 18 guns ! I've had as many as 35 in it when I lived in PA ! It now holds all 18 of our Ruger #1's !

And two pics of the big safe !
This one is mostly double barrels , muzzle loaders and habdguns !

Got all my hunting clothes washed and laying on the dining room table !
I'll get all that sorted out this evening and put in duffle bags ready for Arkansas or next season whichever comes first !

Now I've still got to clean up my loading room and get started on the 175's for the 7 MAG !

Lets see upstairs I still have the Retro 444P , the 336-44 , Remington Model 7 stainless synthetic in 260 REM , Ruger #1B in 7mm REM MAG , Parker GH damascus 16 gauge , W.C.Scott damascus 10 gauge , S&W 629 4" and the 444 Contender !

On almost forgot I have the little circa 1969 Browning 22 semi auto as well !

"7".. as He calls it is a bare bones stock synthetic model 70 that spends it's life bouncing around in the truck,in the cab or in the bed. no matter. His motto is "Nothing Lives Around Here"....
