One of the most perfect handguns out there:
  • Bisley Grip way better to me than other SA grips
    Ruger sturdiness
    Stainless Steel
    Good 'field/hunting' barrel length
Easy to scope but rib not too unattractive if you don't
Comes in a good 'levergun' chambering
Powerful enough for whitetail, but can load down for pleasurable plinking
If they made Marlin 1894's that were stainless steel in the .45 Colt chambering, I'd rather have the same gun in .45 Colt to go with one, but alas, they don't.

I have the XR3 gripped version and love it. I like the Bisley but it's just a little too beefy for my hands. If they'd slim it down a little I'd go for it.

Good for you giving that - what a gift! I bet you can't wait to see his face when he gets it :)
