Hello
HI all, from midwest. Old Savage introduced me to the site a few months ago, and tho I understand very little of the lingo yet, you have certainly provided a lot of entertainment (smiles), as well as education. And I thank you for that.
He suggested that I introduce myself, and tell you my story, so here it is.
This summer I happened by a Cowboy Shoot nearby, and at the end of the get-together, I was invited to shoot a little bit. Zippity doodah!! It was fun. In fact it was so much fun that I went to the local farm store the next day and bought my first gun.! With Old Savage’s encouragement, over the phone……I actually took it out of the box ……and proceeded to learn all about my new Ruger 10/22, including how to load the rotary magazine and put the magazine in the gun!! What a hoot!
I have been having a blast shooting soup cans, pop cans, paint cans, and pizza boxes. Who knew shooting would be so much fun!
It was just the beginning…other opportunities to shoot other guns keep showing up…….and I think I may be addicted! I don’t have a lever gun, (yet) but I m hoping you will let me just hang out with you anyway.
(PS…..don’t tell my mom)

Well halleluyah! Here you are. This is the right place. I am sure you all will enjoy each other. Lots to learn from folks here. You might tell them about a few of the guns you have had an opportunity to shoot in addition to the 10/22.
Here is a lovely picture of you!

Welcome from the great white north. Enjoy your 10/22 great little rifles. I have one I bought in 1976 and it is still shooting great.

Re: Hello
Thankyou for the warm welcome. Not sure if I have any pictures of what I have been shooting lately. It's an old 410 Hercules model 10. The only hitch was when it wouldn't fire a couple of shells. OS asked for info and in short order you guys had the probable answer. That was educational!

Re: Hello
Welcome aboard, we will cut you a little slack and give you a little time to get a levergun! My daughter loves my 10/22 as well.

Re: Hello
Hard to beat a 10/22!
Welcome to the club!
Might try out a Marlin 39/ .22lr. Even more fun than the Ruger.
Or a .30-30 Win or Marlin for a step up from the . 22 that will still be pleasant to shoot.

Re: Hello
WELCOME. I think you'll find lots of information here, and some of it might even be correct...
Seriously, always great to have another firearms enthusiast, especially one who likes leverguns.
If you like the Ruger 10/22 semiauto, you'll just LOVE the Ruger 96/22 levergun...

Re: Hello
Welcome IGirl. I hope you get to enjoy has many years of safe fun shooting as I have plus a few more, I have been at it for 44 years and still love plinking cans. You brought back memories with the mention of your Hercules module 10. My Dad wanted his first shotgun in the 1930s. He went to buy the 410ga module 10 but he fell in love with the 20ga module 10. He had enough to buy the 410 and a box of shells, the 20ga was a whole dollar more. His Dad loaned him the dollar for the 20 and for 6 dollars and change he bought a gun that was passed down to me so long ago!

Re: Hello
I promise not to tell your mom, but you need to find yourself a Ruger 96/22 - it uses the same magazines as your 10/22, and - it's a LEVERGUN. . . !Indianagirl wrote:With Old Savage’s encouragement, over the phone……I actually took it out of the box ……and proceeded to learn all about my new Ruger 10/22, including how to load the rotary magazine and put the magazine in the gun!! I have made mine into more of an educational tool than a 'traditional levergun', but it is still one of the most fun guns I have to shoot - http://www.levergunscommunity.com/viewt ... =1&t=39348

Re: Hello
She stopped at WalMart on the way home from a New Year's party very early this AM to pick up another brick of 22s. Certainly not the New Year's message I thought I would be getting from her a few months ago. Look how happy she looks after braving some cold weather and shooting up the last of the last brick. Little Red Riding Hood - she sure is looking good.

Hello and welcome from another Hoosier. .22's are the best way to start no matter what kind it is. You get to shoot hundreds of rounds for little cost and not much noise, and they're just plain good fun.

Hi JReed. I am familiar with Fort Wayne ! Lot's of fun things to do. Several of the american legions used to have dances on weekends, and they were a lot of fun. The Franke Park Zoo, and the outside bandshell near the zoo was pretty neat in the summer. All kinds of things and only about an hour or so away.
