Rossi 92 future availability

Post by bajabill »

was at a gun shop and he had a 44-40 oct barrel for $425. I want a mod 92, but not in that configuration - have that caliber in an 1873. I asked if he could order these and he said not at that price for too long and was told that Rossi was going to stop importing them and that the company taking over has them priced at about 700. He was not completely confident on this, but just what he was told by his suppliers recently.

Is there any truth to this??

He looked and can still get me what I want, 45colt, 16" round barrel for $430. He is not playing games and is very honest, I have bought many guns from him and he always has his products priced pretty well.

Sounds to me like he is talking about Rossi no longer using the Puma name for 92's. Armisport Chiappa now imports 92's under the Puma name and they are more expensive than the Rossi's. But Rossi still imports 92's under their own name and they are still available for between $450-$500. Check Davidson's for current prices. God Bless.

Good luck with one if you can find what you want. I'm getting pretty frustrated waiting for what I want: 24 inch octagon barrel .357 Mag.

You can always contact our main man, the man with the plan on the 92s, Nate Kiowa Jones aka Steve Young of Steve's Gunz.

The CFO just approved and offered to split it for Christmas, so I ordered it up. Sure will beat a stack of shirts.

Been trying to call him. I'd rather give him my money, if I can, than some of the others. He's not been answering the phone, so I'm going to send an email soon as I can remember to do it this weekend.

+1 It does sound like maybe the gent was referring to old news and is running a bit behind on the information. The Legacy (LSI) "Puma" switchover to Chiappa manufacture is now running on 3 yrs or more. For so many years people associated the "Puma" moniker not only with the LSI Rossis (and Interarms earlier), but equated the name with any Rossi 92. Legacy inherited the Puma marketing name from Interarms in the 90s, and kept it in its switch to Chiappa in 2008. As someone(s) noted, I'm sure Nate (Steve Young) will be able to clarify Rossi's current status.

Meanwhile, the OP might look for some nice used or NOS Rossis, whether LSI, EMF or Interarms (or the odd Navy Arms). Pre 2006 EMFs, NAs (and of course any Interarms will come without the "safety."

You're lucky.

I got word tonight there's a vendor at the local fun show that has a 20 inch sitting back in his shop. He didn't bring it to the show. If everything is as he says, it'll be mine this week.

The local gun shop has not had them and I paid over $600 for mine. Said he is having a hard time getting them and I am sure he is paying as much as you say they are selling for.

I'm showing this as current, but who knows? Worth checking out:

Alas looks to be a post 06 (safety) gun, but then so are the new ones being discussed--and many EMFs historically have had nicer wood, etc.

I've got a 100 pound barbell for weight lifting.

For hunting I have a 16" bbl Amadeo Rossi SA (no safety) Puma 92 in .357 Mag.

4.8 pounds & carries like a feather through the thick stuff & shoots like a dream.

The big name online retailers Bass Pro, Cabelas, Wholesale Sports don't carry the Braztech-Rossi brand in lever actions (92s, Rio Grande).

I'm hearing good things about the Rossi Rio Grande 336 knock-off but the only one I could find was in .30-30 Win.

I'd definitely be interested in a Rossi Rio Grande in .45-70.

Now that quality control at Remington/Marlin has apparently gone down the tubes I think Rossi will capture a lot of Marlins market share.

I have seen the Rio Grande at Academy Sports recently. No 92's seen there though.
