I like my el cheapo M-Tech neck knife I got on EvilBay for $4.99 including shipping. I forget I have it on it's so light weight.

don't drive with them. All my ER friends hate neck jewelry, but they hate neck knives worse.

Can't beat a small handy blade, and every time I fish I have either a shirt pocket clip knife or a neck knife.
My neck knife is a Kiku Matsuda kiridashi, which translates as something like "handy little knife" but the tradition is a neck knife for fishermen.

I had a Krein Dogfish a few years ago. Liked it for what it was, a small, very handy knife. I noticed that the kydex sheath would allow it to slip out. I put a few wraps of electrical tape on and this helped for a while. I lost it in the woods during deer season when it slipped out unnoticed. I will buy another but will have to do something about the sheath when I do.

I'll toss my chips into OS's pile on this one. I tried one a 15 or so years ago and couldn't bring myself to like it. I was kinda in a tacticool stage and they were all the rage. The worst things were 2 hands needed to resheath it and I hate any weight on thin strings around my neck. Even my 1" x 1.5" x 1/4" remote for my WR game caller or a handcall on a lanyard bothers me. Just give me my Kershaw folder with a pocket clip for everyday or a fixed blade on my belt for hunting and fishing.

Thanks guys, two great looking suggestions. I never realized the popularity of these until I started looking into them this morning. The one thing I did take note of as a safety issue, not to use the para cord for around the neck. Recommended to use a breakaway type of strap.

Bead (dog tag) chain works good. I wear mine under my shirt which works good in warm weather.

a couple of finger-ring bird & trout knives come with a kydex sheath on a bead-chain necklace.
Cold Steel is probably the best of these.

They worry me (for no particular reason). I can deploy my 4" Cold Steel Voyager PDQ. If I have a little premonition, my hand is already on it and it's quicker than the vest pocket pistol.

I bought a Cold Steel Trout and Bird knife like the one pictured above. I never could warm up to mine either. It takes 2 hands to get out and I was always afraid I was going to stick it in my hand while putting it away.

I picked up one from a fellow on Blade Forums. It's marked "Marani" It's pretty well made and holds a good edge. But turned out to be heavier than I expected. It's turned into a nice little belt knife. I've handled a few others, but they seemed to be either to heavy/large, or made of material that seems too soft to hold an edge. If I ever come across one that is small/light enough to wear around my neck all day, that is also made of a good knife making material, I'll likely buy another.

What is it they dislike about them...??? Is it a driver-safety thing or an issue with safety for the ER workers, or just the hassle of 'securing' them?

Never had need/use/desire for one.. Have made a number of sheaths for other guys..
Carrying one seems to lose its luster for most men I know, real quick..

Wear one everyday at work. Never had a problem in close to 20 years. I believe mine is a crkt or something like that. Mine is a "get the f-ck off of me" knife.

I have a small Cold Steel but never liked it around my neck. I keep it in my truck but to tell the truth I'm not sure where it's located right now. In the console or glovebox. I just keep my folder in my pocket and it comes out real natural.
