Honor our Vets Day

Post by Pitchy »

Salute to all that served and have lost their lives for our country.
Seems this world can`t get by the need to kill each other so young men and woman have to die but hats off too all vets that took a stand and did what they had too whether they understood why or not.

That's the song for Memorial Day.

Today is the day to honor ALL of the fine men and women who have served and sacrificed, and not just those who died in service.

A grateful salute to ALL who have honorably served.

Actually, wasn't 11/11 originally 'Armistice Day' marking the end of WWI?

:)
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Yes it was Armistice Day. We honor the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month as the actual time for our minute of silence honoring Rememberance Day and our Vets. It originally honored WW1 dead but now we honor our Vets who sacrificed for our freedom in all conflicts here in Canada.

Thank you all. Like some of you, I served in VN, (me in '71, '72 & '73). And like some of you I'm sure, it took a whole lot of years to have anyone other than immediate family or other servicemen/women say anything remotely close to a thank you. I know how I reacted... at a big church meeting... about 1995... hell, I wasn't the only one crying with gratitude. It's very refreshing and rewarding the way our vets are being treated on the whole. My dad served in WWII, and told me that even then, there were protesters... but they've been erased from the history books. A fitting reward, don't you think? However, without those that question, can we keep ourselves in check? Not every fight is our fight, but for those that are... we should be there squarely behind our brave men and women. And yes, this fight against an extremist ideology that wishes to see our culture destroyed? It's OUR fight! Sorry for the political flavor, but...

Being a uniquely American thing, I celebrated Veterans Days at a local "Hooters" with two friends who weren't servicemen, both these guys were born about the time I graduated from high school... I musta had a good time, cause I feel like I was in a fight!
