How do you tell if a Marlin 1894 has Ballard rifling or Micro-Groove Rifling??
I believe I understand the difference. But another explanation would be nice. Thanks, Tom.

Look through it! Micro-groove barrels are also roll-marked "Micro-groove" on the barrel, all you need to do is read it.
Re: Marlin Barrel
Where does it say that?? Tom.

Re: Marlin Barrel
If it looks like any rifle from another maker, or any center fire revolver or pistol barrel ya ever looked down, it's Ballard, aka regular rifling. If it looks like a whole pile of tiny grooves, well yeah, it is.

Tom , if it's micro groove it will say right next to the caliber designation on the barrel, If it doesn't then it's ballard.
