Prayer Request

Post by Griff »

A friend of mine fell a couple of weeks ago, been sufferin' with some back pain since... then last Friday couldn't take it any more. Checked himself into the hospital as his pain was such that he thought he was having a heart attack... or something! It wasn't, and even after a couple of days on muscle relaxers and bed rest, he couldn't sit in his driver's seat without holding himself in some weird, contorted position... not conducive to driving.

He went for an MRI on Monday and they found 3 herniated disks C4-7 (IRCC). His folks drove out from MO to VA to get him and I rode up with another friend and recovered his truck yesterday. I'm loading up in Martinsville today, headed for Dallas, and will get his truck back to his house on Monday evening or Tues. morning.

This is a good guy, married, with 3 small boys, Dad's a deacon in their church, great folks. I'll know they'll do what's right, but a few prayers extra never bothered anyone. I've had several friends that have had back problems, and it seems it's not an easy recovery. I remember mine from in the Navy and it still bothers me... I know he'll be out of work for a while, and w/o an income, it'll be tough.

I just ask that you ask the Lord to provide for him and his family.

Done. And advise him that if/when he decides to have surgery, get a neuro-surgeon rather than an orthopedic surgeon. BTDT.

Griff, prayer offered from southern Oregon for your friend. Please let me know if I can help in some other way.
I'm about to have a second MRI on L5, and am hoping for surgery myself.

I have 3 disks that don't even show up on an x-ray myself. I know it's just a mater of time, but they won't fix it til it breaks.

Prayers for the kids too.

Griff, I have two bulging disc in my neck from being taught to tackle with our helmets as weapons in high school. This was in the 60s. I was taught in college to keep my head up and slide my face mask to the arm pit during the tackle, much better. I taught to get your head up and hit across the bow at the arm pit and drive, much better. My back and arms starting hurting after I retired from coaching so bad it was very hard to drive. I went to a Neurologist and he did a MRI. I didn't know I had claustrophobia at the time, I do now! He said that the operation is a hard one and told me to try drugs first. He prescribed Vioxx for inflammation and it worked. They don't have Vioxx anymore. My druggist told me it was just a high potent Motrin. You might have him go to a Neurologist that is not a surgeon first. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. RR7

Hi Sir, Prayers given,
I too had several operations to get me kind of lined out. Try and move about as much as possible. Walking works best
Hang in there , and maybe thank God each day as it could be worse. Thinking of you.............

Got up there yesterday evening and got his truck returned. Glad to be back in mine, but... that 125 more ponies and 400ftlbs of torque sure made easy work of getting the 8,000 lbs of pillows I took to Wal-Mart in Dallas!

He saw a neuro-surgeon this afternoon. They're going to try some steriod injections and hope that'll get the swelling down.. Docs say to explore non-surgical options 1st. Hopin' that does the trick.

Should know in the next few days if that does the trick. Thanks for your prayers. Both he and his parents appreciate any help right now. They're sure aware of the power of prayer.
