I swore I'd never own another ported firearm, but when recently I came across a little-used Marlin 1894CP in 357 Magnum in the box with papers and cable lock for $418 OTD I made an exception:
The 16.5" critter does shoot accurately, and the porting makes it just a bit more noisy when fired under a roof. There is no "blast" from the porting and that's going to make this one a keeper. It joins two 16" Rossi/Braztech 92s, a 20" Octagonal Marlin Cowboy, and a 24" Octagonal Marlin Cowboy all in 357.

Might as well face it, you're addicted to guns . . .
Where have you been shopping? This one and the Black Shadow. Nice finds.
I for one don't have a problem with the porting. A little more noise and muzzle blast at dusk but, no reason to not buy it. I would have a hard time deciding between your new Marlin and the Black Shadow, glad you got both!
However I think if you look closer you will find you actually have a Model 1894CP , that was the designation for the 357 . Only 44 Mags were marked 1894P .

That looks like a very handy & useful Lever at a sweet price! Good job!

You know that the .357 is too anemic to do more than annoy a deer. Just send it my way and I'll gladly make sure you don't have any rounds bounce off of a deer from it and make the deer come and hurt you. Why, I am not sure it would even punch holes in paper.

I stand corrected, and edited the original post. Thank you for the clarification, and thanks to all for the comments.
