Disapointed

Post by wolfdog »

Our club had a youth shoot yesterday, and only 3 kids showed up to shoot. Last years turnout was about 40. Oh well, they each had plenty of coaching though, and instead of the top three in 2 classes getting $75,$50,$25 dollar gift cards they got scored as one class with the winner getting $150, second $100, and third $50. The ones that showed up where happy with the outcome.
I got to shoot blackpowder some after the shoot ended, the worn out T/C Hawkins shot fine. The 45 cal inline didn't do so good.(Some dummy went and left the 209 primers at home)

First, good for you guys for having a youth shoot. I wonder where the 40 kids from last year were? How was the program accepted last year?

Thats one of the things we are going to do is contact some of the ones from last year and try to find out why they didn't show this year, but at the time of last years shoot they were all grinning, as even the ones who did not do so good gto praised for what they did do right. We even made sure the little ones that didn' touch the paper had a couple of bullet holes in thier targets.

Sounds like a plan because it seems odd that at least some of them didn't return.

I heard about one club that always contacted their regional Scout Council to get the word out... were usually filled to over-flowing with Scouts that wanted/needed that badge. Rewarding for ALL involved. With enough advance notice and planning most problems that came up were manageable.

Contacting prior attendees is a good start.

THAT is what you get when a generation of kids is raised by the GOVERNMENT schools, and the GOVERNMENT propaganda citing the 'docile, compliant socialist' as the most desireable among the electorate.

OUR GENERATION (THE 'BOOMERS') TOTALLY SUCKED (IN GENERAL) AS PARENTS, OFF PURSUING OUR MATERIAL GOALS, WHILE DELEGATING THE EDUCATING OF OUR CHILDREN (OUR MOST PRECIOUS THINGS OF ALL) TO THE SOCIALIST POLICE-STATE-ORIENTED 'PROGRESSIVES' AND DEMOCRATS AND 'CONSERVATIVES' (NO REAL DIFFERENCE AS FAR AS i'M CONCERNED BETWEEN A LIBERAL DEMOCRAT SOCIALIST AND A 'CONSERVATIVE' IN TODAY'S PARLANCE).

WE failed our children, but we sure got some cool toys and material things, thanks to our unions and professional organizations playing the 'democrat' game.

No Kidding AJ, I taught school (post secondary - Vo Tech) for 5 years and it was really disappointing how little the parents were involved in these kids lives. I honestly believe that the "hippy - it's all about me " culture was the beginning of the downfall of our society.

Gee... Wouldn't that make the "Greatest Generation" the "worst parents?"

It's kinda like blaming all of one's problems on the relationship they had with their mother.

:?:
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Hmm... I'm not one to blame things on my parents. I believe that what ever the heck was going on in the 1960's wasn't necessarily the fault of or brought about by the "greatest generation". Things certainly changed after WW2, incredible changes in technology and opportunity to do and try things that never existed before were presented to people who tried them. I just believe that fundamental changes in society occured in the 60's. And we are paying the price for that today.

Any possibility that there was some kind of conflict in town? Doesn't sound right, anywhere, where you wouldn't have a bunch of kids showing up to shoot for free.
