My shop and reloading bench is currently all packed up I feel like I've been grounded. We are in limbo waiting for the house to sell so that we can either unpack some (if one guy buys the house, he'll lease it back to us until next spring) or move to a rental....
You don't realize how much you use a shop until its not available...
Ur one sick Puppy Tycer, how do U expect to find anything on those benches.Jk. Wish I had that much room. I happen to have a Tractor Seat that I plan to make into a Stool. Ur bench and Presses definitly look like a place to spend some time in. Well done.

Or how much stuff you have until you have to pack it...
Oh man. It's very strange - I must have really had everything stored very well - organized because the entire shop is filled with boxes now and I didn't even get everything packed yet! The most irritating are the lead ingots

I added a hood so I can cast when Nancy is home! Flux too.
Tycer,
Looks so nice, clean an organized. I always say what the Marines say, "a place for everything and everything in it's place" I "think" the Marines say that---my buddy Gunny is a neat freak.
As for the "hood" thingy, do you mean a hood or a "hood"? . The latter should stay in Philly
Yo dude---on a serious note a powerful fan is the key to happiness in the household---just keep the inlet in the area and not from the kitchen window I use a mega fan down in the basement that will suck out one of my little dogs---if I would be so stupid to lift the dog up.--------Sixgun

300 CFM Elicent AXC 200B I can drop a cubic inch of wax into the pot and never light it. Nancy absolutely hates the smell of hot alloy even without flux. It's always been an outside or her gone all day activity.
Very nice. It sure sucks not to have your shop set up doesn't it.
I learned over to CastBoolits a wonderful new way to flux. I use the same Lee pot you do. I have a half inch dowel about 18 inches long. I stuff it down into the melt and rub the bottom of the pot and along the sides. This does two things: The wood carbonizes which adds carbon the lead which helps to clean it. The rubbing of the sides brings up anything that is stuck below the surface.
All that's needed to flux is carbon. I never knew that before, I used to use a small chunk of bullet lube. The dowel gives very little smoke, mostly from the dowel itself which is easy to take outside if needed.
Y'all haven't met Nancy but I do believe it is worth all the effort Tycer's making to make her happy. Nice lady!
+1 I've met Tycer's better half, and he's on the right track to keep her happy. I suspect Nancy is like my Connie - if Momma's not happy, ain't no one happy!
Tycer, that is a great set up! I need more work surface - may have to swipe your plan!

Catshooter,
I like that I learn somethin' new everyday. I'm gonna try that (with the dowel) After 40 years of casting I need to see the "mirror" on top. I'll see what happens.
I like that name "Catshooter"---domestic, feral, or "homebred""? -----Sixgun
on another note, I was kicked off Cast Boolits for LIFE. Those boys did not see a good deal when it smacked 'em in the head---I told 'em the only way I knew how to tell things---Got booted
Yes, give the dowel a try. I was amazed at how easy it is and it works wonders.
The cats were all feral. Nasty, nasty creatures that my friend was afraid for his two year for. Was fun hunting, I'll tell you that. I used a 1912 production 1911 and cast bullets, worked very well.
With no intention of trying to offend, I thought the moment I saw your for sale posting that you might get into a bit of a scrape. Then I opened your thread. I knew you were toast.
Been several times over there (and here too) that I really wanted to cut loose but I knew I'd get smoked so I didn't. I've got too much to learn to cut myself off, especially there. Casting is important to me and I've learned so much over there that I am doing things I though impossible just a few years back. Oh well.
