Old friend Tom came out to Wyoming from Kali to hunt pronghorn with me, brought a doe tag and a Winchester 25-35. Opening morning about 8:15 he got this one from a range of about 40 yards. 60-grain bullet went in one side, tore up the lungs and went right out the other side, leaving an exit hole about the size of a half-dollar. Doe ran off about 10 yards and fell over DRT.
Surprized me that he only had a doe tag but he had been trying to get a buck tag for 3 years with no success. He just wanted the fun of the hunt and to go home with some meat. To most Wyoming hunters, shooting a doe not very interesting, but it made him happy so it was worth the effort.
I don't believe it. I think this photo is staged. Everyone knows you can't shoot antelope with anything but a 257 Weatherby Magnum Bolt action at less than 400 yards!! Common knowledge, in fact I believe it may even be illegal in some states to shoot antelope with a lever gun.??

Hunted the same way I do with the flintlock. Go sit down in the sagebrush and wait for one to come by.
Very nice. I've been on three antelope hunts in Wy and they are so much fun. Usually we go after our elk hunt. What a difference. Just lots of fun and a different kind of hunt. No packing out them heavy quarters!

Hmmm. That might work for my .38-55. Except, where I like to hunt there's not a lot of sagebrush. Don't know if I want to snuggle up to a yucca plant! Might beat belly-crawling through the cactus, though.

Nath.
Amen to that! And it would seem that you even did it without using Whizzybang gummytip bullets, but standard old game bullets that have been around for years! How come those Corelocts or Powerpoints didn't bounce off I wonder. Everyone knows that you can't kill anything with a levergun unless you use bullets with plastic points! Proud for you as well!
