Hi everybody. I've been a member here for a while but don't post much. I mostly just read and gather info. I have a Winchester Big Bore 94AE in .444 Marlin that I bought new in 2003. It has a 20"barrel and the cross bolt safety. I've fired 20rds through it. I've read that they are some what rare to very rare. The rifle is like new and I have the box and paperwork. I am thinking about selling it but need opinions on what it's worth. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks,
Tomcatt

No sure on your area but up here big bores in 375, 307, and 356 are selling in the 500 to 600 range. The 444 is rarer and should bring you a premium. I take it is is wooden stock, because I believe they also made them with a black synthetic stock set. I'm sure a few other fellas will add to this discussion with observations from their area.

Tomcatt. Thanks for the reply. I would need to know more about the gun. I have no idea what they sold for new. I've started shooting the big marlin lever guns a few years back. I have two 45-75's. I'm now looking for a older 45-70G gun with a muzzle brake. I had a friend who had a 444. Got to shoot it on occasion. Loved it. I let it get away. We are having a gun show next weekend in Kalispell . Have to figure in shipping, etc. Thanks..whitehair

Several fellas on this forum have the BB94's in 444 Marlin, so I'm sure they'll chime in soon.

I've owned two of the three .444's issued by Winchester, the 1st, the Model BB94AE Carbine (20" bbl), and the last, the Model 94 Timber Carbine (17" ported bbl). (I never owned the synthetic-stocked Black Shadow).
The .444 BB94AE Carbine was manufactured for only one year, in 1998, and the Timber Carbine in 1999 or Y2K, IIRC.
I sold mine for $700, but YMMV, of course.

Re: Winchester Big Bore 94
Four years or so ago I would say they were worth $700 NIB (MSRP if I remember correctly was $495 back in '98). Now a like new(still used so the highest rating will not be higher than 95%), 94BB 444 w/box, used, but in excellent shape should be worth up to $600 USD. But recently I have seen one go for $400 NIB at a gun show and across the room a used one with a cheap scope go for $550...can not figure that one out.
The 444 94BB carbine is one of the rarest, but they are around. I have one carbine, one BlackShadow, and still have two Timber Carbines all in 444. Would not be afraid to use them as a hunting rifle on anything in North America.
