OT greasy question for Griff

Griff,

How thick and gooey is 5th wheel grease? Where can I get some?

A. Pretty darn thick and gooey.
B. You can get it off of most any 5th wheel!

It's nothing special Joe. It's the same grease that comes in the tubes that would normally go in a handheld grease gun except the shops buy it in 35 gal barrels. Chevron makes a blue grease that is pretty close to the color of Apache blue lube. That's the grease our shop uses.

I don't know that it has to be amber. That particular one was, but I think the pink stuff is used as well.

I use straight wheel bearing grease on a couple places of my single actions. But not as bullet lube. I think it would be too soft and runny.

That spec sheet said it had to get pretty hot to drip.
