Peter Falk, "Columbo". Another great one gone.....

Post by Topside »

One of my all time favorites.

Legendary television actor Peter Falk, who was best known for his role as a squinty, rumpled detective in the hit series “Columbo,” has died at the age of 83.
Falk died Thursday night at his Beverly Hills home, according to a statement released by family friend Larry Larson.
A cause of death has not been released.

Topside,

Thank you for letting us know. I found this lengthy writeup about him:

MisAdventure with Legal drugs is a bigger cause of death....So, what "kind" of type do you reckon he might have been? :|

At 83 years old and having dementia and Alzheimer’s disease you can die of anything. Where did this comment about drugs of any type spring out from?

Peter Falk was maybe not a super high priced actor but I watched him in Columbo from the beginning to the last one. I will watch them all again as they come around. Columbo is head and tails above most of the ...... that we have to put up with today. We all know who, how and when the murder took place. We all knew that Columbo would solve the case. The question was how he would put it all together. It is that missing piece that we would not see (of course this is scripted) and be surprised when it was put forth.
I thought he was great in the movie "The Great Race" with Tony Curtis and Jack Lemon. Most of the shows he played in, it was in a comic vein, more light hearted then evil and mean.

May the eternal silver screen be always on for him. He will be missed.

I also liked him as the Grandfather and narrator of the Princess Bride.
