death in the "family"

Post by rossim92 »

Sorry to say, but James Arness, a.k.a. marshall Dillon, has passed away about two weeks ago. I try to watch "gunsmoke" everyday before i leave for work. He even had his own website for his fans. http://www.jamesarness.com/. He will surely be missed by his friends, family, and fans. Can you tell me what his make and model of his six shooter was. I noticed it had a fairly long barrel on it, maybe a 6.5 incher?

Yeah the loss of James Arness is felt by all of us. We had a thread here about it just afterwords. It's long off the front page now.

I believe his gun was a 7.5" Great Western.

I always thought his gun was a Hawes Western Marshall built by J.P. Sauer & Sohn, Germany. But, yes, 7-½" model in .45 Colt.
