I'm Gone For A Few Days And.....................
the world comes to an end. I do know I have adult ADD and I've been told I over-analyze certain situations but in reality, I'm just a peon factory worker who is looking for what everyone is looking for----peace of mind. In order to obtain that, I need to "hit the road" from time to time. 99% of the time, its work, work, work, and a little gun time----but...............I gotta work---lots of illegals are depending on me for my hard earned tax dollars. My buddy Tommy calls me the other day and says, "Lets hit the road, just you and me". I says, "Lets roll pard".
I come home and I see that Griff was just 30 miles from where I live. There's 2 trillion e-mails waiting for me all needing something. (No, I don't need local hotties looking for a little action and I certainly don't need any crack-ho's)
I've been upstate shootin', lying, and simply put, livin' life in the woods. My bud Tom had a few toys to play with, including a German Artillery Luger, complete with holster, snail drum, shoulder stock, and even the loading tool for the snail drum which in itself is worth what an '86 Winchester brings.........but............we did not shoot it......bummer......My toys for the last few days were an 1892 in 44-40, OM Ruger 41 Mag. and a cheap SKS which incidently has fired several thousand rounds with no failures to feed, fire, or function. I showed Tommy what a compact Glock 27 in 40 S&W can do at 100+ meters. Here's a few pics.--------Sixgun
Glock 27 at Tommy's range---me holding it on the "off" hand
The "cheap" SKS---reliable to say the least
A sinkhole we found on the property---it would be easy to "lose" someone there.
"If" this was mine, I could retire early. Built in 1917 and nearly new

Yea, I need to get out of this East Coast BS. It seems like everyone is driving a BMW, Mercedes, Volvo...whatever.........and they all got the attitudes to go with it--you know, "look at me and after you do, get out of my way". I just can't stand it anymore. A little bit of time on a chain saw will adjust your attitude!

Sounds to me like Sixgun did OK. I agree with Mescalero on the chain saw. I cut a big dead pine today and started cutting and cleaning up the yard where it fell, still got another bigger to do.
I need a little shooting time too, I don't think any of us get to much shooting time.

Sixgun,
What do those Lugers go for these days? My old man used to have one exactly like the one you pictured. He sold his for $300. In the sixties.

Well, the Luger with snail drum is about $6000-7000 and the stock, . We recently had an "Artillery" Luger with snail drum and sold it for $4500! If I had known the boss would have taken that little for it (and he still doubled his money)... <sigh>

Catshooter,
(I like that name ) Hobie is right on the money. The you add the loading tool (Blue Books for 2 g's) and the serial number matching shoulder stock, like new condition of everything, and the leather holster. Everything that is there came all together in 1917. This is no "parts put together" although snail drums were not numbered to the gun and that is a toughy to document.
It would be a good monetary investment at 8 to 10 g's, a "steal" at 7-8, and a "regular buy" at 10-12 g's.----------------Sixgun

Jack, move to Maine and turn your clock back...well...years!!! Just be sure you're either a few miles inland from the coast or Downeast where the pick ups still out number the Volvos! But, hey, my 1995 Dodge Ram hasn't been scowled at, yet, and you still can buy lobster directly from the lobsterman and park next to their old pick ups. That makes up for a lot! Maine is a pretty good place...even for those of us who are old curmudgeons at times!!!Sixgun wrote:Mescalero wrote:You need to come to N.M.

Ok, Where do I start? I get online at the end of a long day and there are 6,497 messages. Griff's is coming up from Dover, Victor is inviting me to Maine and Casastahle is sending me porn---(She's a looker )
Griff, Today is Father's Day and I spent it forming cases and loading for the 40-60 Marlin, getting ready for the Regional Silhouette matches in a couple of weeks. Dover??/ That means you were on 95, most likely going North towards Wilmington, De. which is about 8 miles from my homestead. This is a clue to my lifestyle----everyone calls me 16 times and leaves messages. I have no celly and my better half gives me the messages from the land line. Call, call, call-------my adult ADD keeps me moving all day---call, call, call....I usually get online in the evening----dang it...Wilmington De.
Victor, I'm on my way up. the stress is wiping me out here. I hope you have kept the illegals and other undesirables out towards and "in" the Atlantic, preferably near the big rocks---Plymouth Rock??
Casastahle---The Jeep YJ is a beauty (92 or so?) but whats on the bumper can come live with me. Your a lucky dude!
Mescalero--LLama? Whats that? Hey! In their time, the Llama 1911 was a respectable and a relaible piece. I never did figure out why they quit making them.
Yea, Its 9 pm ,EST, my brain is dead---I've had a week off from the S.H(@e. I'm partied out, (been snorting some good Bullseye ) and I gotta get some shut eye and get ready for a week of aggravation.
But..........................as we all do................we all need something to look forward to................................................................and.................drum roll..............................In less than 2 weeks, the Pennsylvania Regional Levergun Silhouette Match will be held in Bradford, Pa.-----yea, yea, yea...............................I know, me be idiot (ebonics)------------------Sixgun
Re: I'm Gone For A Few Days And.....................
sixgun,
Wow, sorry to hear you are so stressed. That can make it mighty hard to steady down for offhand shootin. Victor is right, maybe you need to come up here. Your shootin irons and your jeeps are welcome. Its still pretty laid back, just not a place you're likely to get rich.
