OT: Buffalo hide

Post by J Miller »

For those who have a clue, about how much would a half yard of buffalo hide with the fur on it cost?

OK, so since I don't have a buffalo, is there anybody that sells it already to go?

Might google up western trading post in Denver, Track of the Wolf may have some buffalo hide, and most taxidermists should be able to get ahold of some.

$1900 -- good grief.

Been contemplating a buffalo hunt for about that same amount of money --- (of course that does not include travel expenses, meat processing, or any taxidermy fees) --- the cost may very well be double that 1900 bucks after all that , but i would have 2 years worth of buffalo meat, a cool rug and possibly a great memory or two , or the flip side , i might go home skunked and be 2000 bucks lighter

You have to watch some of those buffalo shoots, you only get the meat, after you pay the processing, and if you want the hide they'll charge you extra for that. :o
Sending a buffalo hide off to get it tanned will cost about 15$ per square ft, plus any charge for additional fleshing they need to do.

Pricey for a bike seat, get rabbit or sheepskin. You know what they say... stuff don't stick to rabbit and sheep already smell like that!
