Y2K had his "Board of Review" this evening at the Boy Scouts and earned advancement to the rank of "Star Scout". For those unfamiliar with the Boy Scouts, unlike the Cub Scouts or Girl Scouts, ranks are solely earned in the Boy Scouts (you don't advance just for aging). Scouts start with earning the "Scouter", then "Tenderfoot", "Second Class", "First Class", "Star", "Life", and "Eagle". Less than 2% of all Boy Scouts ever achieve the rank of "Eagle". He really wants to earn this some day.
Yep, his Mom and I are pretty darn proud of the little bugger!!!

By all means, keep him focused on his Eagle. I made it to Star and then got busy with other stuff and never went further. One of the biggest regrets in my life. Coulda done it, shoulda done it.
The things he will learn on his journey to becoming an Eagle scout can put him way ahead of his peers in every practical aspect of his life for many years to come, but even Eagle scouts are just boys, and benefit from the firm hand and sound guidance of a loving father.
Keep him focused, and stay involved.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.
