Any of you guys collect Zippo lighters?
I just purchased my first ever-collectable Zippo lighter.
Sure hope I didn’t get taken to the cleaners too bad on this 1959 lighter.

That's a beauty. Hate to think how many of those passed through my hands during the good old days (when I smoked a million Winstons). I guess I lost every Zippo I ever had. True Americana!!

Cas,
Zippo's?? I must have 10 around here. Here are 2 that I always keep close by in case I need to light up a joint. The one on the right was purchased by me in 1970 at 16 years of age. THAT one has stories to tell. The one on the left is still NIB but is about 15 years old. I have others from friends that were in VN that picture ships. The one with the "peace sign" is more important to me than any Winchester or Colt that I have.---Neat post!
Being a smoker, I use my Zippo everyday. I guess I have 4 or 5 of them. I use them until I wear out the hinges, send it back for repair and break out another. When the repaired one comes back, it goes back in the drawer to wait until the next one wears out. The best lighter ever made.

At first I thought of the WW II era hand-held flame thrower....
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

I have one of the older all-brass Zippos, and I lit and smoked many enjoyable cigarettes with that lighter. Even though I quit smoking long ago and won't ever fool with the stuff again, I still keep that brass Zippo tucked away with some other personal collectables.

When I was in the Navy as an Aircrewman on a WV-2 Superconnie,(RC-121 AF type) We filled our Zippo's with 115-145 avgas. A sump drain was located under the wheel gear, we would stand on the landing gear for the re-fill. I wished I'd kept that lighter, it was a 1959-60 model W/ the navy anchor on the case.
In those days, smokes were cheap. At the base Xchange on Guam they were $.10 a pak & $1.10 a carton. In my flight suit I always carried a pak of Humps & a pak of Salems.
I gave up the habit in 1968. Now I have an occasional rare Cigar.
I have one zippo that I carry hunting, still have two cans of Ronson lighter fluid.

Yeah, OS I know the ones you’re thinking about. (Great minds think alike)
I almost pulled the trigger and purchased one of those vintage aircraft
nose art pictured Zippo’s, but that bird hunting one won out in the end.
In my 50 years on this earth I have never owned a Zippo lighter but then I never smoked . I do however remmember my maternal grnadfather carrying them when I was a kid !
In his old 1964 CJ-5 he kept a bottle of lighter fluid wrapped in a rag between his seat and the door along with a package of flynts.
Closest thing I've ever owned is the Zippo Tape Measure I've carried in my pocket for the last 15 or so years !
Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !
I have only one, put away somewhere; my Dad brought it home from Thule AB, Greenland. Engraving on it says something like: Thule Officer's Club - Top of the World". I need to find that.
Here`s a few i found, carried the Canadian Air Force one for years.

I haven't smoked for about 15 years, but I have my brass Zippo, a card of flints, and a couple cans of fluid handy if I need to head for the hills in a hurry. One quick story: A moron Army Buddy found out NOT to use MoGas in his Zippo

After church today Ms. J & I went to one of our favorite local flea markets,
Made a $20.00 offer on this unfired 1995 Zippo and it followed me home
I guess I’m now an official Zippo collector

Thanks Pitchy,
I know I probably get taken more times than not but I have fun.
Heck I could be spending it in a bar and coming away with nothing
but a headache, at least I have something for show and tell
