Humor - don't stab a Marine
This is just an 'email' thing I got, so might be baloney, but pretty funny.
Police Report of a robbery…
Augusta, Georgia
Orville Smith, a store manager for Best Buy in Augusta, Georgia, told police he observed a male customer, later identified as Tyrone Jackson of Augusta, on surveillance cameras putting a laptop computer under his jacket.
When confronted the man became irate, knocked down an employee, drew a knife and ran for the door. Outside on the sidewalk were four Marines collecting toys for the "Toys for Tots" program.
Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of them, Cpl. Phillip Duggan, in the back; the injury did not appear to be severe.
After Police and an ambulance arrived at the scene Cpl. Duggan was transported for treatment. The subject was also transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken ankle, a broken leg, several missing teeth, possible broken ribs, multiple contusions, assorted lacerations, a broken nose and a broken jaw...injuries he sustained when he slipped and fell off of the curb after stabbing the Marine.
Now that was a well written Police report!!

The police officer investigating the incident deserves at least a pat on the back for seeing things clearly.

there's a time to give up and go quietly, and being stopped by four Marines is it.

I just read this to a couple people in my ffice and we were rolling with laughter, I love it when justice is swift and to the point.
a Pennsylvanian who has been accused of clinging to my religion and my guns......Good assessment skills.

Amen to that! Now that was a well written Police report!!
I have an old friend who wrote some reports like that in
NYC in the 1950s. A couple of dirtbags apparently managed
to fall down the stairs - on flat ground no less!!!

It's an old email myth based on a partially true story. The theft, marines, and the knife part are all true, but the injuries received by the thief are pure internet legend. Someone took a news story and spiced it up to a "don't mess with the Marines" legend.

I, for one, am okay with the "don't mess with Marines" legend.JB wrote:It's an old email myth based on a partially true story. That's kind of what I suspected, but some 'legends' are still kind of fun to believe in...JB wrote:Someone took a news story and spiced it up to a "don't mess with the Marines" legend.

If you were a Marine in 1950 and were told this fuzzy faced kid was your Assistant Battalion Surgeon -
Would that have inspired confidence - or just another reason to try to avoid getting wounded ?
Having lived with Marines (they thought I was really a Marine - just in different uniform) I have no reservations about that story -
