I have always pronounced it "hops", but then again, I am from Coshocton, Ohio. The dialect spoken in this area barely qualifies as English.

What about "Springer" or "Bushy"? And aren't most 1911's actually 1911A1's? Then again, aren't both of those military designations?

Is this a good time to bring up .45 Colt?

As for the nitwits at Ruger dropping the S, there is no Ruger at the company any more. Bill Ruger croaked, then his son and daughter abandoned ship so now the company is Ruger in name only.

As far as I'm concerned they haven't made much I'm interested in since 1973.

This came up before somewhere. Someone called the company and asked, they said "Hoppys", in case anyone was curious how much of this was opinion or habit.

Yep. Then to add insult, they 'bring back' the Red 'eagle' (which is really a PHOENIX...!) without mentioning that the when they originally went from red to black color it was Ruger's 'tribute' to his partner's death.

While we are on the subject, the bullets holders which fit auto pistols and rifles are magazines, not clips.A stripper clip is a clip.

357 magnum caliber, 44 magnum caliber rather than the proper 357 magnum cartridge, 44 magnum cartridge, etc. Caliber has to do with bore diameter and not a particular cartridge.

Also, news media and lots of people calling a cartridge a bullet.

And, why in the heck does the military call a bullet a projectile? There are lots of projectiles but bullets make it "gun specific."

Since precision is the order of the day, it's actually 357 S&W Magnum, and 44 Remington magnum.

I don't know when you retired, but I think you'd be shocked at how far left the military has drifted. One cannot protect others from something he himself openly embraces.

It's the cheepo plastic bottles, even the regular version does that. Try to find an old glass bottle to transfer the solvent into.

Well I'll man up and be the only one I see thus far who'll admit I call it "HOPPS". Everyone I know in Minnesota where I grew up (or MINNI as we called it) calls it HOPPS, everyone I know in Arizona calls it HOPPS. It may not be "right", but I think I'm gonna keep callin' it HOPPS!

Is it a ka-nife or a knife? Was he Ka-nute Rock-ney or was he Nute Rock!

Is Ole pronounced "Olly" or Oh-lee? Oh-lay???

I have never heard of AR style rifles being called "sticks" but have heard of Sniper Rifles being called sticks by many real life snipers and former snipers.
