OT- College graduate
Went back to school last year at age 42 and finally just finished my BA degree in Social & Criminal Justice
Now I just need to decide if I want to go for my Masters also. I think I definately want to take a month off anyway:) Thanks for all the encouragement.

Great job! I encourage the break. I took a year off between a AAS and BS and then two years before staring the MS. So 6 years of education took me 9 years, but I never felt like it was work or I was overwhelmed. Good Luck!

Good job! Don't lay off to long as it will be harder to hit it again. Keep going until you either have a Phd or circumstances force you too quit. Life and people can take away everything you HAVE, but not what you KNOW. This is why the Jews place such an emphasis on education.

Careful all that 'education' doesn't make you as dumb as some of the people I spent a dozen years getting 'educated' with...

Congratulations. Taking a little time off isn't such a bad thing. I took time off after 3 years studying Chemical Engineering, went in the Army, met and married my wife, got out and got a Pharmacy degree instead. The time off was the best thing for me as I wouldn't have been happy with Engineering, just my personality, and I met my wife during the time off from school. I also learned that I wasn't meant to jump off of 10 foot walls on a continuous basis.

May as well go back to school. It's not like people are hiring 42y/o Males with fresh Bachelor's degrees.

Education won't make a person either dumb or smart. Folks come to College with one or the other traits. Education will only give a smart person more information to use, or for a dumb person to screw up.

Re: OT- College graduate
Way to go! I encourage you to go for the Masters. In hindsight, I wish I would have "just because," but in my case wouldn't have made too much of a career-success difference in "those days" at least early on. I'm 57 and had a very good career on my BS degree. But you could do that somewhat easier back then, and my field was a decent specialty without a lot of others nippin' at my heels (for that critical 5 year starter/establishment period anyway).
Definitely take a little time to recharge, but +1 the suggestion to not wait too long. It can be hard to get back the right energy to jump back in.
You don't say whether your new degree(s) is career-driven, but if so, the Masters is almost a must these days for a leg-up in a lot of fields. My 28 yr old niece has worked two years past her Masters only to find she is now itching to move it on to the PhD. Very bright and hard-working gal, but not only is it a struggle for her out there like lots of folks out there now, but she is a bad personality and skills fit with the hard-driven field she chose, and would ultimately just as soon "impart" knowledge to up'n'comers on her own terms... versus duke it out in the cold cruel corporate world she unwittingly (rose colored glasses etc) thrust herself into.
Good luck on whatever you do. At 47, you've earned doing nothing in my book! A little bit of mixed messaage there I admit

Congrats!!!!
Re: OT- College graduate
Congrats! It isn't easy to do that.
I went back for a Masters when I was 47 and graduated when I was 49. It definitely helped me through some tough employment times. The last time I got riffed, (3rd time due to corporate restructuring), it made the difference between getting a job at 55 or not. Keep at it!
