Movie with lots of lever gun action . . .

OK, the basketball games were over and I was searching for a movie on TV. Found an older (1993) movie on Encore On Demand, "Jeronimo", with Robert Duvall, Gene Hackman, and a young Matt Damon. Three of my favorite actors, how did I miss this movie when it was out? It's the story of the U.S. Army's efforts to control the Apaches in Arizona and Mexico, including one Apache, Geronimo, in particular. Or, from the Apache perspective, it's the story of how the US government stole their land and killed their people.

Politics aside, the movie is full of combat scenes with lever guns, Winchesters from what I could see, which were used by the Army, the Apaches, scouts, mercenaries, and it seems, everyone. Kind of interesting to see "the gun that won the West" in action in a historical movie.

Sorry. IMO the best and ultimate Levergun Scene comes from "Streets of Fire"... Under the "L" In Chicago none the less...

Yeah, not sure how you missed that movie if you like Westerns. Its in my collection and makes the rotation every so often. I really enjoy Wes Studi when he plays in westerns. I think he made a good Geronimo and enjoyed the movie a lot.

He was also the indian in the desert in Seraphim falls, the movie got real bad right at that time, not that he is a bad actor, or that he did a bad job, the movie just got real strainge after that, but a lot of shooting action in it.

He was also the indian in the desert in Seraphim falls, the movie got real bad right at that time, not that he is a bad actor, or that he did a bad job, the movie just got real strainge after that, but a lot of shooting action in it.

Yeah, good movie but I didnt understand the whole "lady in the desert" thing that was going on at the end. I think even the plot was good where the back story unfolded but thought that the lady made it strange and took away from an otherwise good movie.

I remember the movie from years ago. Kinda out there, but that's Hollywood. I liked alot of the actors in the movie but I can't be Damon fan. He's all hollywood when it comes to making the shootum up movies and all anti gun when it comes to his politics.

Correct, that was the Apache name, but the movie was called "Geronimo" not "Goyathlay".
