Looking for info on Marlin 1894P's
I've decided I want a handy little levergun and I think I've settled on a Marlin 1894P. These guns seem a tad rare. When were they made and is there any particular vintage/features I should look for? Anything I should avoid?
Re: Looking for info on Marlin 1894P's
There is only one vintage and you should look for and avoid the things you would look for or avoid in any used gun. It seems to me that the big thing is finding one!

Great little carbines.
Don't know when they were made but I see them pop up on occasion.
I "stole" mine at a local show for $250. I just thought it was cool, had no idea it was kinda rare.
It's always with me on a road trip and one of my favorite cabin guns.
As far as I know i haven't heard anything bad about them. Mine doesn't
like heavy wide flat nosed bullets but big deal. It will feed semi-wadcutters just fine though.
Some guys don't like the porting but I have no issue with it. It's no louder than my SBH.

I saw one at a show a few weeks back and the asking price was $800.00. Yikes!

I used an XS LeverScout mount to install a Weaver 2x28 handgun scope on mine. (top-most rifle, below)
IIRC, Marlin only made them 2000-2002
They handle more like a pistol than a rifle, IMHO.
