Whilst exploring the area where I have just moved to I found this interesting grave stone.
The Colt 1851 Navy was standard issue to British Cavalry at the time of the Crimea War.
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.
Very interesting. They did a great job on that tombstone. I wonder if that was a "standard" design for soldiers of that war or special order. Thanks you for posting it.
Now I won't say he was "lucky" at all, but I have to admit these song lyrics came to mind when viewing that post...
"He had white Horses, and ladies by the score.
All dressed in satin, and waiting by the door.
Ooooh, what a lucky man he was.
White lace and feathers, they made up his bed.
A gold covered mattress, on which he was led.
Ooooh, what a lucky man he was.
He went to fight wars, for his country and his king.
Of his honor and his glory, the people would sing.
Ooooh, what a lucky man he was.
A bullet had found him, his blood ran as he cried.
No money could save him, so he laid down and he died.
Ooooh, what a lucky man he was.
Ooooh, what a lucky man he was..."
It's hard for me to make out the dates, looks like "Died 1916 Age 82"? If so that would make him 18-20 during the Crimean War.

Kudos' to Emerson, Lake and Palmer's "Lucky Man".
Haven't thought about that song in 15-20 years. I suppose I should break out my ELP Best of CD.
This is what came to mind first: "Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred." http://poetry.eserver.org/light-brigade.html
Nothing so needs reforming as other people's habits.
