Marlin 35Rems at Cabela's

Post by 3leggedturtle »

There are about 7 marlin 35 Rems at the Owatonna Cabela's store. They range from the 1950"s model with wavy top on up to 1980's. Too me they are spendy going from $350 to $450, but just cant ever remember seeing that many 35's at one time.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

Sure wish I had the spare change to go pick one up. $350 to $400 may sound a bit pricey these days, but the quality and craftsmanship put into those guns will guarentee it will be passed down to your kids or for some, sold at a higher value at a later date. Remington has not really impressed me with what I am seeing hitting the gun racks in the stores these days. If you want a MARLIN, you'd best buy USED!!!

Sad to see the quality going down.

The ones made in 79 and 80 are among the best I have seen.

I have one with a straight stock made in 1975. I believe the straight stock commands a premium, though not much. It is listed in the classifieds here.

Most likely a collection being sold.

The Glendale Arizona Cabela's last Summer had close to a dozen or more Savage 99's in various calibers on the used rack and in the Gun library for Sale.

It would be cool to have one though. My next levergun is going to be a 95 m in 45-70. But I love my 99 in 358Win. and could see myself with a 336 in 35 Rem. Just another "Go To" gun!

Too many guns and not enought cash!! :D

So if the barrel and reciever are a bit rusty and the bore and wood are good, whats a 336 worth in a 35 rem? I know of a pair (one is a 30-30) that are a mite rusty and fellow wants 700 for th pair. one has a williams peepsight on it.
He also has a 30 marlin at 395 and an old win 94 30 cal for 695. Thanks

With out pictures and details of the rifles like Serial numbers, I do not know how one would be able to answer that question?

I would look it up on Blue Book of Guns website. Just Google blue book of gun values.

Ya know, turtle, I think I'd maybe let the wife see the "End of America" video that circulated here a few weeks ago. Then buy all those 35's as an investment that would have to be at least as good as buying Swiss francs or other such stuff.

And then you could shoot 'em a little bit to see which were most "interesting" (As in the famous Townsend Whelen quote of "Only accurate rifles are interesting").
