OT - Winchester 75
Traded into this last week, picked it up today. Pics are from the seller (trader?) since I haven't had a chance to get any new ones.
.22LR, Lyman target sights, and near as I can tell it was produced in 1948.

I was given one of those awhile back. The older gentleman that owned it set many state records and won a lot of NRA medals with it. This one has Redfield sights on it, and really likes the Aquila rifle match ammo. If you need them you can still get magazines for it.
Great rifle you'll likely enjoy a great deal.

I might be wrong, but I think if you take it out of the stock, you can adjust the trigger....maybe

Re: OT - Winchester 75
use a quality standard velocity target ammo in that gun and it will produce tiny little " bug holes " for you, while not quite as good as the winchester 52, it is still a fine rifle, try some wolf match target in it, its pretty decent target ammo, and wont hurt your wallet to bad, $50- $60 a brick, < average > theres better more expensive ammo but prices go on up, 22 target rifles are finicky so try several types,

Re: OT - Winchester 75
Thanks for the info guys!
Don, it came with one mag but I'd like to track down the single shot adapter. Are those still around?
Blaine, the trigger is nice as it is. Not real sure I want to mess with it.
azz, I've got a stash of WMT so I'll give that a shot. Errrr, so to speak.

I don't know if those are still available or not, but I'ld imagine you could find one somewhere. Maybe ask at some place like rimfire central?
I just left the magazine in place and feed the thing single rounds. Never have tried ir with the magazine loaded.

I have a Model 75 Sporter. Based on the tiny little groups my Sporter will shoot, I am envious of your Target model!

We used to shoot those at our Junior Rifle Club at Chanute AFB in Rantoul, Ill. I belonged to that rifle club from 1963 to 1966. If you EVER decide to get rid of it, I would be very interested. Enjoy, those are great shooters.
I am pretty sure that ours had Redfield Peeps on them.

I've got one too. It was my dad's squirrel gun and has an old Weaver J4 on it. I plan to update that with something better. I don't remember ever seeing any iron sights for it. Real good shooter too. Congrats, you will be pleased.

Thanks! I just need to decide if I want to drop $30 on it.JB wrote:Brownells sells the single shot adapter for the 75.
Here's a pic from Saturday:
I don't find any markings on the front sight. Need to get my loupe out. The rear is a Lyman MJT90 IIRC. At 25yds it's shooting about an inch high (Federal and WMT) when cranked all the way down. I need to fiddle with it and see if I've got it installed properly.
I also need to tighten the loose trigger nut to do it justice...

Re: OT - Winchester 75
Great Purchase!!!! I've owned both the Sporter and Target models.
If you take the action out you will see a round set screw. This is the trigger adjustment screw. Be careful because if you remove it all the way the little spring and ball may get lost. Once you have the setting you want blue loctite the set screw in. You will only get about 1.5 pound difference, at most.
Deluxe Sporter
Target with 8x Winchester scope....only offered as a factory option for the 75 Target

I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.
Re: OT - Winchester 75
MVA is supposed to have a version of the Winchester A5 scope out now. My rifle has the blocks on it and it's sort of tempting to scope it and see what it will really do..
Re: OT - Winchester 75
The A5 will not fit the Winchester "8x" blocks. You will need to get the Lyman/Unertl blocks unless that's what's on it.

Re: OT - Winchester 75
This one has the Unertl blocks on it. The Leatherwood short malcolm scope I have sat on it nicely but the mounts for that are junk. I bought a set of Unertl mounts from DZ arms to put that scope on my bpcr's, but those mounts cost almost what the MVA winchester scope is supposed to cost. Hopefully MVA updates their web site pretty soon...
