It looks like Miroku is now branding the Winchester M86 EL Extra Light as the Browning M1886 Extra Light.
It looks the same as the former Grade I, plain blued receiver, uncheckered straight-grained stock, rebounding hammer & tang safety.
I saw two MSRP's, both from G&A - in the April 2011 issue @ $1250, and online @ $1150
Here's the G&A online atricle: http://www.gunsandammo.com/content/winc ... light-4570

Re: Where, Oh Where, Is The Extra Light ?
Funny thing...When that first run of 1886 ExLwt's came out back around Y2K, they listed at around $1,000 and I saw them all over the place for $700. Guys would buy 'em, shoot a couple of boxes, then sell 'em "slightly used" for 6. ---------------Sixgun

Yep - The street price for a new one ought to run just under $1K.
FWIW, although I've bought more than my fair share of new guns over the years, I haven't had to pay MSRP since Saint Peter had a last name.

Re: Where, Oh Where, Is The Extra Light ?
I got smart & lucky, that happens very seldom, and bought one of the original Winchester re-runs a few years back.
CDNN was selling them off dirt cheap.
It is a keeper for sure.
The lucky part is that I bought the EL because I couldn't find the 26" oct barreled rifle that I thought that I wanted.
The EL handles like a dream and shoots better than I can hold at 100 yards.
I does kinda get your attention when shooting from the bench.

I just ordered one of these things and am curious to know if they are drilled and tapped for a reciever sight??
I can deal with the rebounding hammer and tang safety but my eyes won't handle a buckhorn anymore.
Thanks Win92

That last paragraph in the article makes me laugh where the author says that the rebounding hammer eliminates the "click-clack"......blah, blah, blah. What a bunch of horse apples.

I would love to have one of these, hopefully some one will buy one and not like it, and be willing to sell it cheap, and I will be lucky enough to find that guy!

Win 92,
Put a tang sight on it. If you buy the Marbles, it comes with three apertures of different sizes and you can use the smallest hole for sighting in. It will make that front sight crisp for tired old eyes, then you can switch to a larger hole for hunting. Still some help with fuzzies but you can see more of what you're shooting at. The big plus here is that it hides that tang safety!

The EL:s are drilled and tapped for a Williams FP or Lyman 66WB receiver sight. The older sights won't fit because the holes are drilled too low on the receiver. I am not a fan of tang sights. I find that they are obtrusive and make a rifle difficult to grip. Many shooters like them, though, so it's worth a try.
