Off Topic: Some leather pics

Post by mran1126 »

This winter I did a few leather projects. My first time working with leather. Middle sheath was the first one....then holster and lastly the knife sheath on the left. Just takes a few simple tools and a little research. Image

Nice work. I have sort of thinking about doing something like that.

Wow! You did good. I have a holster from around 1890 that is very similar to yours.

mran1126,

Nice work.

I could use a holster like that and one of the sheaths. My birthday is in August ....... just kidding really. I wish I had talent like that.

Very nice indeed! Leather working gets under your skin. I am making a batch of six holsters right now. Some for me and some to sell.
Have fun!

Thanks for all your replies. The fun part of doing leather work is that you can make it JUST the way you want it. And, of course there is a learning curve. I made a few mistakes but nothing too serious. Just need to think ahead a lot. That holster came out fitting the Vaquero like a glove. Thanks again for you replies.

Great Job, did you pretty much teach yourself or did you find a company that gives training and kits that you start practicing on first. The only company I have ever heard of was Tandy, I am sure there are others.

I pretty much taught myself. You Tube is a good source of information. And Tandy has videos you can see too. Got my leather and a few other supplies at local Tandy store. $78 total expense and so far I have made those 3 items and have leather and supplies left to make a few more things. Leather was a belly piece at $25 which is included in that $78.
