OT - First gun purchase of 2011

Post by Chas. »

I waited 46 days to make my first 2011 purchase. I think I did pretty good. Although I haven't seen it yet, it's a Ruger Blackhawk .357. Gunshop, Jaqua's, said it was in excellent shape. I've never done business with them, but some of the folks over on rugerforum.com think highly of them - we'll see. I'll post pics when it arrives. Now to get that .357 levergun to go with it.

Good for you. You tempted fate for quite a while. I bought a new Glock 34 today. I've got a handgun instructor's class coming up. Needed a new gun for that don't ya know.

Congrats!

Decided to go ahead and hit one of my goals for my collection - obtaining some "non-Colt" cap & ball revolvers that I had wanted. Will post later...

Only last 11 days into January myself!

I could see where you'd have to do that. Two of my favorites and I don't have a single one around anymore. Need to remedy that. :D

I haven't picked my 1st up, but it's an old Interarms 1911 rebuilt with new trigger, sear, springs, barrel & bushing, & Remington Rand slide. I'm going to put a flat mainspring housing and new Colt wood off my Combat Commander. Gotta find a web belt, leather GI holster (brown) and play the Wild Bunch game with my Rossi 92 when I get a 1897 SG clone. Pics to follow.

First purchase for 2011 was an FN PBR (patrol bolt rifle) .308 with a 16" medium heavy bbl and a 3" muzzle break. Second purchase for 2011 was a few days ago when I picked up a pre-owned but unfired Marlin 1895G guide gun in 45-70. :D

No new (or used) guns for me this year. I'm trying to get a handle on my addiction. Sounds like I'm hanging with the wrong crew for that though.

You just missed that .357 levergun!
They had a Marlin for $250 that came in with the big lot of handguns you got that .357 out of. I didn't even waste time calling, I just got in the car and started driving. Gone before I got there. :( I probably saw your .357 on the table.

They had an expertly done Siamese Mauser in 45-70 that tried to follow me home too, but no other .357 levers.

My first of the year today (unless I've lost track...which is possible), a mint Bulgarian Makarov in 9x18mm for $175. Probably seems like a lot for a Mak, but I missed the boat on them earlier and they've really gone up.
