...tonight I lost my father. Always a tough day. Hard to believe it has been so long.

You're right on both counts. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him.

Thanks!

It has been 11 years, 4 months and 18 days since my dad passed. Dreamed about him just last night. Interesting how that works. He never talked about it much, but I think he missed HIS dad, too. I think they are together now and I'll get to join them. All that to say I get it.
Sincerely,

Hobie

Sorry as well. It seems the time is just a'flying bye. My Mom is gone coming up on 15 years and I'm watching my 90 year old Dad just waste away before my 57 year old eyes as well :(

Good advice. Keep the faith.

The departed still live within the living, as you probably can sense nearly every day.

It is interesting, the things that come into our lives. This may sound a little far feched but Jay, I remember two years ago when you posted that it had been 28 years. It struck me like a bolt that day how much we can miss someone and that sometimes we can be selfish. You see Febuary 10th is also my birthday and for that reason your post has never left my head. A year went by and on 2-10 last year I thought of you. I went on the forum that morning looking for a post for you but was instead greeted by a happy birthday post. I forgot I had filled in the birthday info here but I got to say it was most heart warming. I remember that after going through the posts there was nothing about your dad but I thought of you. Then this morning I came on here looking for a post from you as if I knew there was going to be one. I just felt it. I feel for your loss my friend and am hoping the time makes it easier.

"Tommorrow is promised to no man."

I try to live with that idea in mind. Can't, not all the time, but I try, do the best I can.

I was at a gun show when I got the call about my dad passing. His was sudden and unexpected, but at least there was no suffering involved. Some fathers are worse than worthless, some are God's gift, most are somewhere in between. Mine wasn't perfect, but he did his best and that was pretty darn good.

It is well that you do miss a loved one. My dad died at the age of 53 on Oct 17 1962. I am now 72 and still think real often of him.

I understand what you feel. A week ago, it had been 39 years since Mom passed away. Doesn't seem like it had been that long

So very sorry Jay.

Be glad that you knew him and know that he loved you.

My wife's father ran off when she was four years old.
He sure missed out on knowing a terrific girl.

Sorry to hear your lost your dad at such a young age! I am sure he looks down and is proud of what he sees! I only lost my father 4 years ago this March. While it seems he was taken before his time, I thank God for all the days that he allowed me to have him. Not a day goes by that I dont miss getting to talk with him, he was always an excellent roll model!
