Just wondering what dies and brass everyone is using for your 475 Linebaugh? Has anyone had brass thickness problems with Starline or Hornady or had to lap your dies for them to work correctly? Thanks for your input !

Re: 475 Linebaugh dies and brass question
How is that rifle Mic built you working? I have known Mic since 1997 and we have done many projects together including magazine articles. I have used Hornady brass in a M-83. No issues. Starline makes a great product. I saw some .475 brass for sale in the bargain section of a local candy store recently. If you need brass, I will see if it is still available. 1886.

Re: 475 Linebaugh dies and brass question
When I got my 475 there were no commercially available brass. I received 50 Winchester 45-70 cases from from Linebaugh. I then bought some more trimmed cases from someone else as I didn't have trim dies. The dies I bought were the only ones available at the time and I believe they're C&H. I'd have to dig them out to be sure. I have no experience with any other 475 brass.

Re: 475 Linebaugh dies and brass question
The rifle is great. I cant say enough about Mic's skills and how good this rifle looks and shoots. The only issue I have is every once in a while when the brass is ejected there is small burr on the brass rim.(sharp) Other than that it shoots like a dream. I have taken two mule deer and one cow elk using my CPBC 425gr. WFNGC load. To much bullet for the deer I know but I like using the same load so I know exactly were its going to hit every time. I havent been able to recover any bullets as even the elk was a thru and thru (both shoulders) I have read that some people have issues due to varying brass thickness between companys and their dies being cut tight. Hornady will lap your dies at no charge if you send them a resized brass along with your dies. I have only used Starline brass in my rifle so I have no expierence with any others. I was just wondering if anybody has had this issue.
Re: 475 Linebaugh dies and brass question
I use RCBS dies and Starline brass for my 475 Linebaugh Freedom Arms. I have never had any problems with the brass some of which has been loaded 18 times now. Most of my loads would be considered mild to moderate. I load 420 grain Beartooth cast at around 1,000 fps. using either Unique or H-110.
