Alliant RL 7 works very well for both Jacketed & lead loads in the 30-30.

I get my best results with IMR 4227.

I got a perfect score in the silhouette match yesterday with it (ok, I got the first ten and then the rifle jammed, so I'm 10/10)

Seriously, it's been my best powder with lead or copper coated. Haven't tried jacketed, they're too expensive for general shooting.

Decent knockdown power at 200 meters, consistent groups.

Yup! And I've used IMR 3031 and Winchester 748 ever since I began loading for my first 30-30 back in 1972. AA5744 works well too, and there are others. With any of these you can get good results, and with some experimentation, very good results. Write down the best load you come up with for the gun you are using.

I like a Lyman 311466 sized .3015 and patched with 16# green bar printer paper. Loaded over 32gr of 3031 does everything I ask for in a 30-30.

I've shot a jillion of the Lyman 311041 sized .310 with 17 grains of IMR4759 or 18.5 gr. 5744. For a little change of pace I like the speer 110 sp pushed by 32 gr. RL7 (it's a pointy bullet. If that makes you nervous just use it as a two-shooter).
