Rossi 92 comments and video link

After much discussion here and many questions I made the plunge and bought an all stainless 24" Rossi model 92. I found the gun to be very functional right out of the box. I did a short cycling video using only my thumb and index finger to cycle the action to show how smooth the gun is. I had made mention of using the gun on the trapline and in the boat.My only complaint is that it throws my brass into the water and it shot 6-7" high at fourty yards. The workmanship and wood to metal finish is very good. I decided against the B-square mount because I needed something very solid and I now have that. The gun is smoother than my pre-move 1894 Marlin and that is saying alot.Overall I am very pleased with the rifle and now understand many a rifleman's want of this fine design. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYthQGY6r10

Very good. That rear sight looked kinda tall (IMO) even without the elevator in it. This is a pic of one of my favorite rear sights (open), and it doesn't look as tall as yours See how deep the slot is. Maybe it's just perspective.

This is as closeup as I've got of the rear sight on my Rossi 92 Rifle:

Regardless, the front bead on almost any Winchester (or it's clone) should be ¾" above the centerline of the bore. How tall the sight should be above the barrel is immaterial, as such depends on the taper of the barrel

It would be "OT" but sometime it would be interesting to hear more about your trap-line...

If you do any work on your carbine, get Steve Young's CD on the Model '92. Steve has instructions for changing ejector/extractor springs so your brass isn't flung 10' behing you. Excellent video for any '92 owner. http://store.stevesgunz.com/
