For your veiwing pleasure.......Here's some pics from coon season this year. So far we've called and killed 50 or so. Most in November and all during the day:
Opening day:
Second Day:
Later in the Month:
Another day later in the month, possibly Thanksgiving weekend:
Sorry, No lever guns. Just a couple 10/22's and a Rem 597 mag.
Are you just squalling them out of their dens..? Seen them do that on video, but have never done it.

OK I need to be educated on how to get coons during the day. When I was growing up we ran coon dogs at night. Funnest hunting there is ,but keeping coon dogs is a pain in the butt. So if you could share with us how you go about calling coon and what kind of call sounds are used. Thanks
Neat pics. You boys sure look like you know what your doing. Here in the East, hardly nobody hunts them anymore and the population is exploding. The cities are full of 'em. ---------Sixgun
FoxPro's Coonfight will bring in most of em but you really need to get one of the FoxPro Coon Distress or Coon Distress #2.
The set up? Find a den tree, set caller at base of tree opposite of any holes if possible and get ready. Some come fast, some come slow, some play peek'a'boo and ya never get em. Keep your eyes peeled around ya to. Coon will come from about anywhere.
BenT, we ran hounds for lots of years but between short season, dwidling hunting land and some not so great strains of hounds we decided callin was the way to go. Better than traps too IMO. Don't have to get up early and check em on a cold, rainy Nov. morning. Bad weather? Hi honey, what ya doing..........
Sold 33 so far, average $10. Anywhere from $1 to $25 tops.
