Ammo for Rossi 92 with loading issues
I am looking for ammo suggestions for my Rossi in 357 and 38. One thing I was hoping to find was reference material describing cartridges by length. The manufacturer’s sites don't seem to offer any info on this point. I want to try different ammo, but I want to be methodical in approach.

Re: Ammo for Rossi 92 with loading issues
I have two 357mag Rossis and I've found that most anything 1.500" OAL or longer will feed just fine. That means long loaded 38spl and 357mag.

I guess what I am asking is, how do you know what size they actually are? Some seem to be very slightly longer or shorter, are you just buying them and measuring, or is there some sort of comparison guide?

I handload all my ammo and that's what I set them for. I've never bought ammo so I'll have to defer to someone who has.

Re: Ammo for Rossi 92 with loading issues
Since far and away the majority of .38/.357 ammo is designed marleted and shot outta handguns, revolvers more specifically where OAL isn't a significant issue, ypu will need to become the data collection point. Unless you find someone who already has it.
Sticking to round flat point or truncated cone bullet shapes will reduce the number of measurements you'll need.
Then too, the customer service folks are only a phone or email away! Be clear on why you want the info and a pleasant demeanor has usually netted me the info I've wanted!

Re: Ammo for Rossi 92 with loading issues
Hi all, Rossi report
Today-
Best- Federal 38 Special 130 Grain Full Metal Jacket (if they all worked like this, I'd be satisfied)
OK- Fiocchi 38 Special 130 Grain Full Metal Jacket - (won't eject)
OK- Fiocchi 357 Magnum 10 Grain Full Metal Jacket conical - (won't eject)
The federals seemed to have a crimp where the bullet meets the casing and a second crimp in the casing. It seems to be able to grab the crimp and eject it easily.
Also, fully jacketed, round or conical seem to load into the tube the easiest. Anyone else have these sort of results? Does the work that Steve does fix theses issues? And what is really happing?

Two weeks ago-
Today I was having success with 38s more than 357.
BEST - PMC 38 Special 132 Grain Encased Metal Jacket Non Toxic
OK - Fiocchi 357 Remington Magnum 125 Grain Semi-Jacketed Soft Point
Good- Hornady 357 Magnum LeverEvolution 140 Grain Flex Tip Expandi
Poor - (Lead of the Hollow point get hung up as it tries to feed) Remington 357 Mag 110 Grain Semi-Jacketed HP
Poor - (Lead of the Hollow point get hung up as it tries to feed) Remington 357 Mag 125 Grain Semi-Jacketed HP
Poor - (Feeds very well, but gets stuck in the tube) Remington 38 Special 130 Grain Metal Case
It seems like the encased or fully jacketed stuff slips in the tube nicely.
I have installed Steve's ejector Spring (can't seem to find the instructions on the video) maybe that will help.

Your ejector is still hanging up somehow. The instructions to install it are on/in? the DVD. You assem everything into the bolt then pin the lever in place outside the receiver. Now, push in and out on the ejecter as you swing the lever through it's arch. If the ejector sticks then you need to find out why/what is causing it and clearance it so it works smoothly. If it will work out of the gun it will work in it.

As always, Nate comes through again with the specifics of what to look for and how to deal with it.
