OT: What firearms are you giving for Christmas?

Post by SFRanger7GP »

Santa Claus is bringing Clara a Merkel K1 in 7x57 Rimmed. She loves my K3 in 30-06 but it kicks her too hard. I figured the 7x57R is enough gun for all her big game hunting. By the way, Graf and Sons has Hornady 7x57R ammo for $20 a box! I bought her 15 boxes. That should keep me from reloading for awhile and it is cheaper than buying brass.

I asked Mrs Clara Claus for a small gauge barrel set (20/28ga). I got beat up pretty good on my dove slaying fest a couple of weeks ago. I think 12ga will be for duck and goose only from now on.

Santa is bringing me a brand-new Rock River Arms National Match upper for my AR build.

I've been a good boy me thinks.

The Mrs. wants a Weatherby Mark XXII in .17HMR. We're not actually getting them for Xmas, but around the beginning of February. Close enough.

None this year, but I would not refuse any that were given to me.

Santa Claws hasn't graced my abode in years. I don't even get a lump of coal.

I am giving my nephew the 1911A1 my brother bought for $37.50 in 1964 or 1965. My brother and I traded it back and forth several times. I finally traded him a Model 12 Winchester for it in about 1970 and have refused to trade it back to him. I decided now would be a good time to let his son have it. It is in excellent condition. I discovered recently that it is an Ithaca frame with a Colt slide. It is a Mt. Rainier arsenal rebuild. I used it as a truck gun for many years.

We live near a coal-fired power-plant, and sometimes when the rail lines aren't supplying, they haul coal in by truck, and some spills along our road here and there. I'll try to pick up a piece and send it to you if you really want one.

Actually, nice wool socks and some time with the kids to play cards or just talk or throw snowballs, is good enough for me.

However I have been eyeballing a few firearms on various 'wish-lists' lately, so we'll see... 8)

Does it count if I am giving it to myself? If so, then Santa happened across a surplus VZ24 (Czech version of a M98) in 8mm that he's promised to put under the tree for me.

Gave my best friend Rafter-7 a 1886 Browning Montana Centennial, couldn't wait until Christmas.
Bought myself a 1894 7-30 waters that I've been wanting (needing) for the last 25 years.
Bought a Pink CZ452 for my 5 year old daughter that will be from Santa. She's been asking for a pink gun  , so.

None for Christmas this year, but that is just because other things took priority for the kids this year. Y2K will get a 1911 in 2011.

Actually... I did pick up a rifle for myself. Just haven't told the wife yet she got it for me!
