She politely explained that the one quart model was currently unavailable, and asked if a 1.4 quart model would be an acceptable substitute? YEP!

Sure enough, yesterday I received my new thermos via UPS, free shipping and I didn't even have to send in the old thermos. Now that is great customer service!!
If you believe the old saying that "every cloud has a silver lining" then so must every silver lining have a cloud. My new thermos was marked "Made in China".
