Brought the BLR out of vacation this year.

Post by farmer44mag »

Got this nice minnesota 200lb.+ 9-pointer with my .30-06 lightning BLR. Shot my first 9 deer with it with the open sights, brought it back into action this year with a 2.5x leupold on top. Fell in love with leupolds this year. Shot 3 deer with this setup and one other with my ruger m77 all weather ultra light with a leupold 6x on it. Liked them so much i just mounted a 2.5x on my 336c 30-30 as well. Groups as well as my .30-06's with the leverevolution loads. Will have to take out some deer with that one next year.

I should trade my BAR in on one of those. I'll have to go look and see if they have a 20" Lightweight.

Congrats and I like that combo. I like the 2.5/3xs. Mostly Leupolds on mine.

Great buck and I applaud your scope choice. My BLR in .308 wears a Redfield 2.5X with a post reticle.

Forgot to mention i used hornady SST's 150gr. this year. They are incredible!!! It was like i was shooting a magnum this year compared to the generic softpoints i usually use. Went through both shoulders on 2 of my deer with incredible damage. Not good for meat saving- but great when you shoot a deer at sundown and don't have snow for tracking.

you can not go wrongwith Leupold. Have 2 1-4X on Contender carbines. They are great and never lose POI. Whart of MN you from?
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Nice Buck, Nice rifle. thanks for posting it.
