EMF/Rossi/Taurus .44mags

Post by VGmontana »

Looking for feedback on my guns.

Steve Young worked them for me- new October 2009. A 24" Oct bbl color case/blue and a 20" round bbl color case/blue/saddle ring. Large loops, followers, actions done, safeties removed. Semi buckhorns. They match except round vs oct.

Anyway, I wanted the last of the EMF non-taurus w/ matching bbls. Ended up somehow with transition guns that are marked EMF/Rossi and Taurus...............non-matching bbl's.

Any thoughts on this set?

VGmontana,

Welcome to the forum.

They sound like a pair of very interesting rifles. How do they shoot?
And do you have any pics of them?

I'll take a picture of them and upload to this thread.

They shoot very well.

Senior,

When did you get your two Rossi's? Are they EMF models? I can't tell if your carbine is colorcase. Is it? Anyway, these two guns are very slick to cycle and shoot great. The 24" of course is a little more accurate. When I go to the big stores and test cycle the new lever guns, there is no comparison to these. Feels more like cranking a car jack.

What kind of rounds have you shot through your guns?

I have run Ultramax 44spec.200 gr RNFP; Winchester White box Mag 240gr's JSP; MagTech 240gr 44 spec.RNFP ; PMC mag 200gr JHP. THe rounds I have but not shot through these guns are Federal 300gr hard cast; and the buffalo bore gas-checked 255gr FN, 270gr JFN, and 300gr JFN. I have shot the BB rounds in other guns and felt that the 270gr shot the flattest.

The PMC 200gr rounds are very flat out to 100 yrds at least.

More later.

Forgot to mention the Hornady leverlution 225gr plastic tips. They are very flat at 100yrds and cycle great. Should be a good hunting round deer +.

The sights on these guns are Marbles.

Nice looking set you've got there. I wasn't aware that Rossi made 24" versions with a round barrel. I do know that they make a short barreled rifle with an octagon profile. Steve's action / trigger job turns them into slick running shooters. Mine are 357mag Rossis imported by LSI. My carbine's receiver is blued. I like them so much I'm considering a set of 44mag or 45LC too.

Now, you've just got to get a whole bunch of ammo and .......................

The carbine is 20" round barrel. The rifle is 24" oct.

I had a lot of indecision on the 357 vs 44 issue When I bought them. The bullet drop was trhe main issue. The primary use geography, the deciding point.................
