Nice pictures. Kinda wonder if that hide in the second pic might not be a buffalo since the hair looks longer toward the front of the animal (lower part in photo) and it would be huge for a black bear at least. Looks to be a studio shot as the hide seems to be tanned. Can't tell from photo with no legs showing and no tail to see. Just wondering.

Neat Pictures. What kind of footwear is the "bear hunter" wearing, I can't tell what they are but it may just be my eyes.

Rangerider you always find the neatest old photos.
I agree on the hide. I think it's buff.

I only know two of the ranger's names. As you look at the photo, kneeling on the left is Light Townsend, later captain of co. C, and next to him kneeling is Capt. Will Wright. The photo was taken in 1925 in Laredo, Texas. At this time it was Captain Wright's Co. D. This is about the time all Texas Rangers were issued 1895 Winchester Carbines in 30-40 Krag. Like this one.

Thanks Huntermb, It shoots good too!
P.S. About the late 20s and early 30s was the time for the so called 10 gallon cowboy hat. He must have been a trend setter.

RR7-Every time I see a photo of the inside of your home (or MUSEUM?), I wonder what it must be like to live surrounded by all those neat artifacts. Does your wife have her own separate place??
Thanks for the interesting posts.

The Ranger picture looks like a group picture of gun magazine writers testing the 1895 Winchester!!
Great pictures!! One of my PODNAS bought an 1895 in 30 ARMY recently.
When was the 1895 chambered for the 30 ARMY? Reason I ask is that I found an "ancient" 30 ARMY fired brass on the ranch in West Central Texas 2 weeks ago.

I'm sorry, I thought that the .30-40 Krag was the same as the .30 Army.

I should restate my question. I would estimate the number of 95s rollmarked 30 ARMY were few as the moniker did not stay for long. How many years were they marked 30 ARMY? Were they ever marked as 30-40?
