Winchester 2011 Catalog Arrived
Model 94 20-Inch Short Rifle .30-30, $1129.
Model 94 24-Inch Sporter .30-30 & .38-55, $1129.
With the usual rebounding hammer, tang safety, angle eject.
Plainer versions, no commemorative nonsense, look more like working guns.

The 38-55 sounds neat but for that kind of money and the lawyer proof design plus probably being made in Japan......I think I'm converted over to Marlins and just shoot the Winchesters I have....afish4570DPris wrote:Model 94 20-Inch Short Rifle .30-30, $1129.

Any guess on when they'll actually hit the streets?
That 24 inch 38-55 would sure enough get my attention.

DPris,
Does that 24" 38-55 have crescent buttplate that seem to show up on all the new 94's or the shotgun (?) style stock

No "probably" about it, the 94s are & will be made in Japan.
No idea on availability.
Short rifle is shotgun buttplate, Sporter is crescent.

Rebounding hammer = strike 1
Tang safety.............= strike 2
Unreasonable price ..= strike 3
Made in Japan..........= strike 4
Not interested
There is still millions of used AMERICAN ones out there for me to choose from.

A BIG + for the made in Japan, but all -s for the other parts. At that price I'll put my money in an original pre-war 1894.

Re: Winchester 2011 Catalog Arrived
I bought one of Lypsey's 92's and imported to Canada. The gun was on sale but importing takes its toll. I agree the price was high but it was a decision i was willing to make to get a new TD model.
The other issues regarding the safety and such are quite legitimate for a proper Winchester clone. I try and call mine a Winoku to make it clear its not an original. I accepted that it was a trade off but at least mine has no collector value so shooting it a bunch and carrying with me a lot isn't an issue. I like tang safeties if I have to have one so that was no real problem. I would not take the plunge for the new 94s because lots of nice used 94s are available in Canada at a reasonable price.
Japanese construction was not a problem at all. The quality puts my 444 to shame in all honesty.

They wont be getting any of my money for those as long as real Winchesters are available for half as much.

Joe,
Glad we caught you in a good mood.
But, I don't see who you think you're fooling, we all know you're gonna be all over these new Winchesters.

Wow Great news from USRAC. even better is that in a year or so Turnbull Restoration's will probably do a run of these and make them "Right". just like they did this fall with the USRAC 92's.
