OT That was humbling!

I shot like a novice on this one!
I spotted her from about 400yds, in the photo look left of my right hand and you can see a hedge line coming down to the right, from there I spotted her. I quickly closed the distance down to 75 or so yards coming around the copse behind me in the photo and keeping low snook down wind and walked up to her with the sun behind me.

Well I got all excited didn't I telling my self how the EBR never misses
She was quartering away with her head to the left when shooting comenced and I only went and pulled the trigger like it was a shotgun The shot went low and right smashing a thigh and nearly removing the far corner front leg. As she snarled and spat I shuttles another round in and try again only to repeat the same stupid mistake and totally miss her. As she hobbles I miss again with the third round! This sounds real bad don't it! Luckily the first shot had got a bleeder and it was all over by the time I had filled the magazine.

I had all the time in the world, I got myself all lathered up and had pumped my ego up but come away feeling a fool!

Yes I got her but by no way proud.

Oh well a good bump back to earth never did any harm!

Yep, if you've ever been to Gettysburg you'll learn of the copse at the Federal center, the downfall of Pickett's charge, etc.

Well Nath, if I had to guess I'd say your trouble came because you were just TOO close. Bet you could have made those shots at 200. At least you should use that as your excuse.

BTW: I do love your photo's of the UK countryside. Thanks for posting them. The green always seemed different over there..I don't know why. But even when I was there for 3 weeks in '89 I marveled at the color difference than what I was used to in the US.

Not just in PA; I have a friend who grew up in Chicago, and he's always using the word - "Hey, slow down, there's copse all over the place...!"

If it's a larger stand of woods, we call it "That big-ole-clump-a-trees"
