So why exactly was there a large box containing 13 smaller boxes of old shotgun shells sitting on the front porch when I came home from school today
Re: A question for casastahle.....

Ummm an answer from casastahle
Ammo. wasn’t part of my “I’m not buying anymore guns” resolution.
Those vintage boxes of shotgun shells are better than money in the bank right now.
Guys this is what happens when the Princess gets home before the knucklehead.
This will undoubtedly cost me a dinner out, or two or three.

I think this year some of the Girl Scout troops started selling old shotgun shells instead of cookies.
It's the latest thing...

Well, maybe not entirely honest, but they could be doing that...

I'm just elated it's not me for once! My day of reckoning is coming Mescalero, when I admit to my wife that I am secretly beginning the stockpiling of Longrifle parts to build a new custom muzzleloader. Played that card many a times myself. Don't drink, smoke, or play golf. Figure my few and far between firearms-related purchases are nothing to worry about!casastahle wrote:It's all good guys, and thanks for all the great support.

Re: A question for casastahle.....
Fortunately for me, my wife and I have friends who collect old John Deere tractors and combines at $5,000 to $10,000 a pop and 1950's Oldsmobiles at $20,000 per item. Compared to that, the occasional old Winchester going in or out the door looks pretty spartan. This type of card, I play in advance. It goes something like, 'Wow, Patti, I just saw so-and-so's John Deere R that he sank $10,000 into! Sure glad I collect old Winchesters and not John Deere tractors! Whew! (gives head a shake)'
By the way, I have nothing against collecting John Deere tractors. I'm kinda hoping that someday I can get me a styled B or, even better, an unstyled D. That is at least 10 years down the road, however, and may require that I sell some of my old Winchesters to float the deal.

I am not married and I do not use Blaine's " firm approach "
so here is a paradox
he does,
I do not,
both single?
how come?

Re: A question for casastahle.....
I have a good friend that once tried to sneak in a new Corvette under the nose of his beloved, thinking that he could have it in his storage unit before she got home, but she took the day off work that day....that just didn't work out too well......when he got busted he then tried to convince her that it was her upcoming valentines day present.....that went worse. I wouldn't recommend the valentines day approach.

Yeah, for that new gun in the corner... right the girl scouts are selling them this year instead of cookies. They said they were trying to reach a different demographic group in their fund raising this year.
Well they said they were girl scouts... how was I to know. I don't know the secret hand shake.

Re: A question for casastahle.....
This is one of the funniest posts in some time.
I can get the occasional new gun past my Blondie, but she seems to have
a nose for ammo purchases of more than one box too.
I had a recent midway shipment that came in a really big box on our front porch this week.
All it had in it was a bag of 50 .375 Win. cases and a pack of ten plastic ammo boxes.
She was all up in arms. " What's in the Big Box?"
When I unpacked all the air bags she calmed down. Not that I was really that concerned. It's my money after all
but things seem to run better around here when she's paying the bills.
I figure if i forget one. I bet they'll send another one next month.

the boys are chiming in with all sorts of wisdom of dubious value
