Sure is a pretty 1886 in 45-70. This one is unfired, as new. High grade wood and some engraving. I would have to use it for sure. What are your thoughts?

At $1795 opening bid he is right at the top of value, at least in my opionion. Having said that they have never gone down in value. If you want one to use watch for the standard rifle or carbine. If you never plan on selling then by all means go ahead and get the high grade and have fun. I have a carbine that I may be letting go in a month or so. Just haven't made up my mind.
there is no such thing as a miss if you still have ammo

From what little I know about them it seems overpriced.

Agree with 1886, bought one last year, a Montana Centennial NIB for $1295.00. One month later got a call from the shop I purchased it at and was asked if I had shot it yet. Of course I hadn't had time, so the shop owner offered me $2000.00 if I sold it back to him. Guess these puppies are worth something.

well, it may be worth the money, but I'm thinking the money is better well spent overseas. Good luck to the one who gets this one. I have about 15 pics of it. It is gorgeous. It is close to the reserve where it sits right now.

I paid 1900.00 for one in .348 so It may go over 2 grand for a 45-70.
