On T Win 92/25-20 is Home

Picked this up this morning. It is a little rough on the exterior blue wise but the action is Super Tight. Bore is pitted but the grooves are deep.
Wood is xclnt I would say for being nearly 100 yrs old.
Will start some kind of cleaning process, dont know how far I want to go. Will probably depend on the outcome of cleaning.
Now I will definitly have to find some Ammo.
After getting it home and aiming it I found that I can see the front sight pretty good,not like the Trapper 16 in barrel
It must have been on the rack for quite a while as it was marked down . way down
After getting out and beating the brush I have actually found a Lot of Old Levers for sale. Now I have My eyes on an old 94/38-55

I love the looks of that, even with the blueing in the shape it's in. It looks like 100 years of use, but not abuse. And from the pics, the wood looks sound.

I found another one, a lot better blue than Mine, pretty shiny bore but has issues,ie screws missing, one bunged up screw. If it stays there very long and I recoup a little monet I still might buy it $500

This rifle was serialized in late 1912. The Cody Firearms Museum can now tell you the exact date. It usually took a few weeks for the rifle to be full assembled and make it's way into the Winchester Warehouse. Could I please get a photo of the barrel address for my survey?

Thx 2bit for finding this. I tried but in My finite wisdom was unsuccesful. I posted about finding old posts but My internet was on the blink all day.
I only had 2 rounds for 25-20, so I fired one from each Gun. For such a small round it makes a good crack. Can't wait to get some loaded and see what they will do. I need to get a sight elevator for the second one though.
@ 2bit, did U find the other Gun ? I will get a pic of the barrel addys tomorrow and post them.
Went looking for a holster for My Colt on the way home and found another 92- in 32-20. might be a little pricey, $999. Blue is really nice except on the rcvr they used either sandpaper or course steel wool in small places for a little bit of pitting.

IMO.....original 92s are the best leveractions....period....real smooth, solid...
and balance well...........and are a ton of fun to shoot!

Hello Perry,

Thanks so much for the extra photos of your rifle. It is the only 212,000 series rifle I have right now. All the stamp styles and positions are correct for it's SNM range. The original tang stamp for the model had a period after the 1884 on the bottom line but that was dropped right around SN 200,000. The barrel address on your rifle came into common use in the 195000 range.

I agree that the .25-20 WCF is a fun caliber to shoot. It will definitely make a coyote wish he had slept in that morning instead of coming to your call. I'll try to get around to posting some photos of the three 1892's I have in .25-20 after the holidays.

If you can get mne any data on that other rifle you looked at I would appreciate it. SN and caliber for a start and then whether a carbine or sporting rifle. Anything else is gravy.
